FAQs

  • In our first session I will ask you in more depth about what has brought you to therapy. I will talk through your early years and family history with you, asking you to pin point anything you count as a significant event. I will also run through the contract with you which incorporates the practicality of the therapy.

  • My rate is £80 for a 50 minute session. I offer a small number of reduced rate sessions for low-income clients. I also offer a free 20 minute phone call to discuss any questions you might have and ensure we are a good fit.

  • Everything you say in your sessions are confidential unless I believe you are a real danger to yourself or someone else. I make brief, factual notes after sessions which aren’t seen by anyone else. These are for me to be able to keep track of our sessions and your progress. Notes are destroyed six months after the therapy finishes.

  • Most clients have sessions once a week, however some have them bi-weekly and others book in for a check up every so often. It is dependent on what works for you and your personal needs. I would recommend that for the first four months of therapy you commit to weekly sessions, in order for effective therapeutic work to take place.

  • This will differ from person to person and depends on your individual need. Therapy can be either short or long term depending on what you want and the type of issues you are bringing to therapy. I would always recommend twelve sessions as a minimum, ideally more if possible.

  • If you are in immediate danger call 999 or go to your local a&e if someone's life is at risk – for example, they have seriously injured themselves or taken an overdose.
